LyricFind, a lyric licensing and data services company, has acquired Belfast-based Rotor Videos, expanding its portfolio of lyric-based solutions and supporting its recent push into the video creation market.
Rotor Videos is a company that provides tools and resources for musicians and labels to create music videos quickly and easily.
Its platform allows musicians and labels to make a music video by adding music, uploading clips, picking an editing style, adding images and artwork, text and lyrics, and applying filters and visual FX automatically. In addition to music videos, artists can also make visualizer videos, promo videos, Spotify Canvas videos, Apple Motion Art, and more through Rotor.
The company says its technologies were built by a team of engineers, musicians and video directors who have developed video tech for Google and YouTube, directed and edited music videos for Oasis, Primal Scream and Coldplay, and those who have managed major record labels.
At the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Rotor Videos announced a 161% jump in B2C app revenue and a 55% surge in user registrations.
For LyricFind, the acquisition of Rotor means access to more tools aimed at independent artists and labels. The acquisition complements its existing Lyric Video creation platform.
Following the merger, the Rotor Videos team will continue to be led by its Founder and CEO, Diarmuid Moloney, who will report to Darryl Ballantyne, LyricFind’s Founder and CEO.
“Video is a huge part of how artists grow and engage with fans, and the appetite for video is seemingly insatiable,” said Ballantyne. “We’ve long admired the Rotor Videos platform, and their solution is a great fit with the LyricFind portfolio. We are delighted to welcome the Rotor Video team to the LyricFind family.”

LyricFind shares our vision for the Rotor technologies and can unlock the full potential of our products. We’re very excited about our future together.”

In addition to the Rotor acquisition, LyricFind also announced that it has partnered with CD Baby, an independent music distributor owned by Downtown Music Holdings, to launch integrations of both the Rotor Videos tool and LyricFind’s Lyric Video Enterprise solution.
The partnership will allow CD Baby artists to quickly create video content directly on the CD Baby platform.
“We’re excited to collaborate with the LyricFind and Rotor teams, bringing integrated video creation capabilities to CD Baby.” CD Baby President Scott Williams said.
The developments follow nearly 50% growth in LyricFind’s revenue and lyrics catalog in 2022. The company has also significantly increased its royalties paid to publishers and songwriters, the company said.
With over 19 years in business, LyricFind has access to more than 100,000 catalogs and over 10 million song lyrics. The company has partnered with platforms such as TikTok, Amazon, Google, Xperi, YouTube, Deezer, Pandora, and others.
On top of Lyric Videos – a platform capable of generating lyric videos within seconds – LyricFind’s features include LyricIQ, which employs a blend of AI and manual analysis to offer lyrics understanding.
