Paul Stuart has joined Switzerland-headquartered Utopia Music as its Chief Legal Officer.
Located in Stockholm, he reports to Utopia Chief Executive Officer Markku Mäkeläinen.
Stuart will be heading Utopia Music’s legal team, dedicated to providing the legal framework and counsel to ensure Utopia’s solutions and services enable music industry growth.
He joins Utopia from Soundtrack Your Brand (previously named Spotify Business), where he was General Counsel and Head of Business Affairs.
Prior to that, Stuart held senior positions at EMI Music in Sweden and video streaming platform Magine Pro.
He started his career at Nordic commercial law firm Mannheimer Swartling, and also spent time serving in the Malmö District Court.
Stuart joins a growing team of nearly 150 Utopia employees in offices located in Zug, London, Brussels, Helsinki and Stockholm.
Other recent hires include former Downtown EVP Roberto Neri as Chief Operating Officer, Amazon and Universal alumni Paul Gathercole as Chief Data Officer, and ex-Polaris Hub CEO Åsa Carild as Head of Platform.
