Ian McAndrew is the CEO and founder of UK artist management company, Wildlife Entertainment Ltd.
The company was established in 1989.
In addition to Arctic Monkeys, Wildlife has also worked with the likes of Travis, Miles Kane, The Last Shadow Puppets, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Paolo Nutini and Isaac Gracie.
Ian McAndrew: Early career
Having played music after school and worked in a bar in London’s Square Mile, McAndrew landed a job selling insurance.
American venture capitalist, Dan Layman later offered him a job as his personal assistant.
Layman acquired a music publisher called More Music, and McAndrew was appointed to tun the company.
His first signing to More Music were a writer-artist duo, J J.
He told MBW in 2015 that he bought the contract for J J from Layman and sold it to Warner/Chappell.
Ian McAndrew: career at Wildlife Entertainment
McAndrew teamed up with former Head Of International at RCA, Greg Rogers at artist management firm Wildlife Entertainment.
The company’s roster mainly featured US-based producers, and included British ‘80s AOR band FM, signed to Epic.
In 1991, Rogers was offered a job working for Walt Disney in Hong Kong, and McAndrew bought him out of the company.
McAndrew’s first signing was Bradford-based singer Tasmin Archer, whose Sleeping Satellite, released on EMI in 1992, became McAndrew’s first No.1, selling more than 200,000 copies.Music Business Worldwide
