Independent music label, distributor and publisher EMPIRE has launched in Nashville with its first key hire, Eric Hurt, as Vice President of A&R.
In his new role, Hurt will sign and develop new talent in Nashville, working closely with EMPIRE’s global team, and report directly to CEO/Founder Ghazi Shami at the San Francisco headquarters.
To start, Hurt will continue to build country star Willie Jones.
Prior to joining EMPIRE, Hurt was the Senior Director of Creative for Black River Entertainment, where he oversaw a major publishing catalog that boasts more than 20 No.1 hits and worked to stretch hit songwriters beyond the walls of traditional country.
An industry veteran with connections throughout the music industry and 20 years on Music Row in Nashville, Hurt’s career accomplishments have included successful artist collaborations, film and TV placements, national advertising campaigns, and expanding co-writing opportunities for his publishing rosters.
Founded in 2010 by Ghazi Shami, San Francisco-based EMPIRE has been instrumental in launching the careers of multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, DRAM and Anderson. Paak.
In 2019, EMPIRE has released hits and new music from Snoop Dogg, Iggy Azalea, The Free Nationals and others.
