Sharon Timure has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing, at Island Records.
In her new role, Timure will lead the marketing strategies at Island.
Based in New York, she will report directly to Mike Alexander, General Manager, Island, who took on the role last month.
Timure joined Island as a college intern, and has been with Universal Music Group for over 15 years.
She has served as Island’s Vice President, Marketing, since 2015, playing a key role in the career of Shawn Mendes, says Island.
She also worked with The Killers, Bon Jovi, and more.
During her tenure at Island, Timure received recognition as one of Billboard‘s ’40 Under 40 Power Players’ in 2016, and the following year was named in the magazine’s annual ‘Women In Music’ power list.
The news of Timure’s new role at Island follows the recent appointments of Imran Majid and Justin Eshak as Co-CEOs of the frontline UMG label.
