Stephane Rougeot named CFO and Deputy CEO of Deezer

Stephane Rougeot has been appointed Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO of France-born audio streaming service Deezer.

Deezer says that Rougeot brings experience of public and international companies, with a track-record in supporting businesses in growth.

The appointment is a further step in strengthening Deezer’s management team, says the company, eight months after the arrival of Jeronimo Folgueira as CEO of Deezer.

Folgueira formerly served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Board of Spark Networks in Berlin, an online dating company that owns platforms such as SilverSingles, EliteSingles, Jdate, Christian Mingle, and AdventistSingles.

Rougeot will work closely with Folgueira to accelerate Deezer’s development and execute what it calls its “ambitious new strategy.”

Rougeot has over 20 years of experience leading businesses and organizations, including tech and media companies, driving international expansion and accelerating business development.

His recent roles include serving as the CFO and member of the Board of Management at Signify, a lighting products and technologies company based in Amsterdam.

He has also spent seven years at Technicolor, a digital entertainment company, first as CFO, and then as Deputy CEO in charge of the technology and licensing business.

Prior to that, Rougeot held several senior leadership positions at Orange Group.

Rougeot has already started his new position and is based in Deezer’s headquarters in Paris.

Carl de Place, who previously held the role of VP Corporate Development/M&A in the group, has also been promoted to Deputy CFO to support Rougeot in his role.

“Stephane has the skills and experience we need to support Deezer in the execution of its strategy.”

Jeronimo Folgueira

Jeronimo Folgueira, said: “I’m thrilled to have someone as strong and experienced as Stephane in our management team.

“He is joining us at a time when we are fundamentally transforming all aspects of our business to take a leap forward as one of the leaders of our industry.

“Stephane has the skills and experience we need to support Deezer in the execution of its strategy and I look forward to partnering with him in this fantastic journey.

“I would also like to thank Laurent Cordonnier for his work and passion, which has contributed significantly to our success so far. Both I and the team at Deezer wish him the very best of luck in his next challenge.”

In November, Deezer entered into a long-term strategic partnership with German broadcaster RTL Deutschland.

Deezer serves as a music, audio book and radio play partner for what is described at the time as a “cross-media extension of RTL+“, which will launch in the first half of 2022.Music Business Worldwide
