Downtown Music Publishing is now the proud owner of more than 170 Ryan Tedder compositions – including cuts on “Halo” by Beyonce, “Rumor Has It” and “Turning Tables” by Adele, and “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis.
Four-time Grammy winner Tedder sold the catalogue to the New York-based independent in a wide-ranging deal which will see Downtown administer Tedder’s newly-written songs.
Tedder’s compositions for his own band, OneRepublic, were exempt from the buyout.
The songwriter’s work was previously administered by Kobalt Music Group.
In addition to the sale, Downtown and Tedder will partner to expand his Patriot Games Publishing company – home to such songwriters as BMI‘s 2015 Songwriter of the Year Noel Zancanella.
Downtown will work closely with Tedder and his team to provide global royalty collection, copyright administration, and creative marketing services to its growing roster of songwriters.

Tedder was represented in the transaction by Jordan Keller at Keller Turner Ruth Andrews & Ghanem and Downtown was represented by Stuart Prager at Grubman Shire & Meiselas as well as Scott Rosenblatt at Reitler Kailas & Rosenblatt.
Details of the acquisition price were not disclosed.
Recently, Tedder co-wrote the 2017 Golden Globe-nominated Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande song “Faith” from the motion picture Sing and collaborated on “Happier” from Ed Sheeran’s chart-topping new album ÷.
In addition, it’s partnered with Benny Blanco and Naughty Boy, and signed a deal to administer the catalogue of Nashville-based publishing house Big Yellow Dog, which represents Meghan Trainor, Maren Morris, and more.
Last month, Downtown opened its first office in Japan, the world’s second largest music market that has traditionally been underserved by Western publishers.
The Tokyo office adds to Downtown’s existing offices in New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, London and Amsterdam.Music Business Worldwide
