Sylvia Rhone has been named President of Epic Records in the US.
She will report to Epic Chairman & CEO Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid. After leaving her post a President of Motown in 2011, Rhone founded her own label Vested In Culture (VIC) as a joint venture with Epic. The label will continue as an imprint at the major.
She effectively replaces COO Mark Shimmel, who left Epic in January last year.
Discussing the appointment, Reid said: “Having worked closely with Sylvia Rhone, I’ve witnessed first hand how she shares a passion for an artists-first culture. I look forward with genuine enthusiasm to the next chapter of Epic Records.”
