Atlantic Records A&R veteran Gregg Nadel has been appointed in the newly created position of General Manager at the company’s Elektra Records division.
In his new post, Nadel reports to LA-based Elektra President Jeff Castelaz.
Nadel, who was most recently Atlantic Senior Vice President, A&R and Marketing, will continue to be based in New York City.
Nadel joined Warner‘s Atlantic Records straight out of college 18 years ago as an assistant in the A&R administration department. Moving up the A&R ranks, he signed such artists as Zac Brown Band, O.A.R., and most recently, Grammy nominee Sturgill Simpson, among others.
Combining his A&R experience with growing marketing expertise, he has recently driven campaigns for Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. In addition, Nadel founded his own imprint within Atlantic, F-Stop Music, whose roster includes Vance Joy, Brett Dennen, and others.
“It has been wonderful to watch the arc of Gregg’s career over the past two decades,”said Atlantic Chairman & CEO Craig Kallman.
“He has literally grown up at this company, becoming one of the most accomplished execs in our business. When we relaunched the iconic Elektra label, our goal was to rekindle the independent, entrepreneurial spirit that defined the company when Jac Holzman founded it in his college dorm room back in 1950. Gregg’s rare combination of great ears and tremendous marketing instincts make him the perfect choice to join Jeff Castelaz in building the new Elektra for a new era.”
“I echo Craig’s sentiments about Gregg,”says Castelaz. “He’s an agile, tenacious exec who can feel a hit a mile away–which makes him the natural choice to stand beside me as the new Elektra gains momentum.
“I’m looking forward to Gregg’s considerable firepower being unleashed in service of our growing roster of emerging artists. His arrival on the Elektra team heightens our ability to deliver for our artists on all levels, which is the only thing that matters.” Music Business Worldwide
