Taylor Swift is this year’s most-streamed artist globally on Spotify, achieving more than 26.1 billion global streams on the platform since January 1.
The streaming platform announced the news on Wednesday (November 29) alongside the launch of its 2023 Wrapped campaign, which highlights the top artists, songs, albums, and podcasts on the platform across the year.
Taylor Swift’s most-streamed artist status on the platform this year marks the end of Bad Bunny’s three-year reign as the most-streamed artist on Spotify.
Bad Bunny, who comes in second place this year, secured the top spot in 2022 with more than 18.5 billion streams that year. He became the first-ever artist to be the most-streamed on Spotify for three years in a row.
The third most-streamed artist on Spotify this year was The Weeknd, followed by Drake at No.4, and Peso Pluma at No. 5. See below for the full top 10 list.
Spotify rival Apple Music also recently named Taylor Swift as its Artist of the Year. According to Apple Music, in the first 10 months of 2023, Swift saw 65 songs reach Apple Music’s Global Daily Top 100 — more than any other artist.
Additionally, more Apple Music subscribers listened to Taylor Swift in 2023 than to any other artist in the world, setting a new record for the most listeners for any artist in a single year on Apple Music.
Apple Music revealed yeserday that Morgan Wallen’s Last Night was the top song on Apple Music globally in 2023, taking the No.1 spot on the platform’s Top Songs of 2023: Global chart. It marked the first country song since Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road (2019) to top the chart.
Meanwhile, Spotify’s most-streamed album of 2023, for the second year in a row, is Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny, with more than 4.5 billion global streams, followed by Taylor Swift’s album, Midnights at No.2.
SZA takes the third spot with SOS and rounding out the list in the fourth and fifth spots are Starboy by The Weeknd and MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO by KAROL G. See below for the full top 10 list.
The most-streamed song on Spotify in 2023 is Miley Cyrus’ hit Flowers, which has achieved more than 1.6 billion global streams this year.
In the second and third spots respectively, are Kill Bill by SZA and As It Was by Harry Styles.
The fourth and fifth spots come from Jung Kook with Seven (feat. Latto) and Eslabon Armado, Peso Pluma with Ella Baila Sola.

Spotify has also revealed a few genre-specific trends that emerged on its platform this year.
For example, the company says that the consumption of Indian classical instrumental music “continues to grow on Spotify in India and around the world”.
In the last 24 months, India’s classical music consumption grew by close to 500% on Spotify. Plus, over 45% of Indian classical music listeners on Spotify are under the age of 25.
Meanwhile, Spotify says that Afrobeats is one of the fastest-growing genres on the platform, growing by 550% since 2017 with new audiences emerging in Mexico and India.
In 2023, Rema’s Calm Down became the first Afrobeats artist-led track to hit a billion streams on Spotify.
Elsewhere, Mandopop, with top artists such as Jay Chou, JJ Lin, and Eason Chan, has received more than 500 million monthly streams globally, seeing an almost 45% increase in the past year.
