New York-based record label 300 Entertainment has launched its own content and film division called, 300 Studios.
The launch follows last month’s news that 300 Entertainment was sold to Warner Music Group for a confirmed $400 million, following reports about a potential sale to WMG in October.
300 Studios is headed by Kevin Liles, Chairman & CEO of 300 Entertainment and Elektra Music Group, with former Viacom Executives Kelly G. Griffin as Head of Creative Strategy and Nolan Baynes as General Manager.
300 Studios plans to develop multi-format, feature, and episodic content through a “cultural point of view”, says the company.
The Studios’ debut project will be RACE: Bubba Wallace, a docuseries that will be released on Netflix in February.
The six-episode series follows the only full-time African American driver in the NASCAR Cup Series, Bubba Wallace, amidst the backdrop of his public support for global protests in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
RACE provides exclusive access to Wallace as he competes on Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI racing team, says 300 Studios.
The series is set for release during Black History Month and ahead of the Daytona 500. Further productions will focus on three core tenets – social justice, storytelling, and culture, according to 300.
In addition to RACE: Bubba Wallace, 300 Studios has released over 85 episodes of Unplugged, a digital series that highlights independent artists from around the world through live performances.
Additionally, 300 Studios, it says, has over 20 projects in production, consisting of indie movies, music-lifestyle series, episodic content, and podcast initiatives.
