Pan-European licensing hub ICE and TikTok have agreed a multi-year licensing deal for the musical works represented by the ICE Core.
Launched in 2016, the ICE Core licence brings together the work of members and songwriters from GEMA in Germany, STIM in Sweden, the UK’s PRS for Music, Concord, Downtown Music Publishing/Songtrust, Peer music and IMRO in Ireland.
More than 50 services have been licensed by ICE Core since it launched in 2016, covering over 160 territories.
Today’s news follows the announcement at the beginning of the month that the viral app has struck a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, marking the first time that TikTok has announced a licensing agreement with one of the three major recorded music companies.
Earlier this year, the Bytedance-owned platform announced global licensing agreements with two giants of the independent music world, in Merlin and Paris-based Believe.
In July, TikTok also announced a deal with a range of music publishers, via an agreement with the US-based National Music Publishers Association.
Meanwhile, in the US, TikTok has been granted a new seven-day extension to its divestment order deadline, following a previous extension granted earlier this month.
November 12 was meant to be TikTok’s deadline to sell its US assets to an American company in order to resolve national security concerns, or face a ban from the market.
TikTok and ByteDance filed a legal petition on November 10 in Washington asking for Trump’s order to be overturned.
