Los Angeles-based B2B music licensing company Songtradr has acquired AI metadata and music search company, Musicube.
Based in Hamburg, Germany, Musicube’s database includes more than 50 million song titles, as well as more than 500 keywords (such as moods, musical characteristics, content from song lyrics and many more).
In press materials announcing the news, Songtradr states that Musicube uses neural networks and proprietary artificial intelligence to help match music to content and a brand’s target audience.
Songtradr says that this technology enhances its own B2B music solutions “that harness the power of data and tech-enabled intelligence with creative excellence”.
Musicube’s proprietary software is delivered via web widgets and an API that provides what Songtradr calls “pristine metadata at scale” for music labels, publishers, music supervisors, among many other audiences.
The technology also allows customers to search for tracks, playlists and artists based on audiences, moods, genres, vocal features, instruments, tempo and more.
In addition to Musicube, Songtradr’s portfolio of music companies includes Massive Music (acquired in June 2021), Big Sync Music (acquired in February 2019) and Song Zu (acquired in March 2021).
Other companies acquired by Songtradr include film, TV and gaming music data platform Tunefind, and Pretzel, which provides DMCA-proof music for Twitch and YouTube livestreamers.
