Vanessa Higgins is a music executive based in the UK, and a board member of trade body the BPI (British Phonographic Industry).
Prior to joining the BPI’s board in 2015 as an independent record label representative, Higgins relaunched the BPI’s Innovation Hub, which aimed to match up innovative UK tech companies with established music companies.
From 2018 onwards, Higgins has been a mentor for Abbey Road Red – the tech startup incubator from the world-famous Abbey Road Studios.
Higgins, also known as Vanessa Knight, has been a touring artist for over a decade, and has supported acts including Carlos Santana. In addition, she’s performed a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival, and built a particularly strong following in Scandinavia where she still regularly performs.
In 2014, Higgins founded her own record label, Regent Street Records, releasing material from acts such as The Baskervilles, Pet Needs, Ghosts Of Men, and Zara Sykes.
Regent Street, which also operates as a publisher and sync company, specializes in signing Nordic artists and promoting them in the UK.
Higgins was born in Chico, California, USA. Her family subsequently moved to Geelong (Australia) and Maidstone, Kent (UK) before settling in Colchester, Essex (UK) in 1990.Music Business Worldwide
