Ultra Records has expanded its operations in Scandinavia with the appointment of Michel Petré as Managing Director for the region.
Petré joins the US-based label from Family Tree Music, which was recently acquired by Sony Music.
In his new role, he will be strengthening artist signings and finding new talent from the Nordics as well as hits from abroad.
Petré started his music career 44 years ago in one of Stockholm’s first import record stores and has gone on to hold senior positions at Edel Music and Ministry of Sound.
Alongside Martina Ledinsky and Daniel Ledinsky, he founded Family Tree Music in 2004 which grew into one of the leading independent companies in the Nordic region.
“I’m so pleased that michel’s joining the Ultra family as his services are a great boost to our knowledge and access to Scandanavian music and beyond.”

The hire is a second recent example of growing interest from US companies in the talent hub of Scandinavia — last week, Sony/ATV launched Stellar Songs Scandinavia as a publishing JV with Stellar Songs and Norwegian independent music company, MER.
