Yvan Boudillet has joined Switzerland-headquartered fintech company Utopia Music as Head of Policy.
Boudillet’s recruitment is the latest in a series of senior executive appointments at the firm.
At the start of September, Utopia made the high-profile hire of Downtown‘s former EVP of Business Development, Roberto Neri, as Chief Operating Officer, followed by Paul Gathercole‘s appointment as Chief Data Officer, Åsa Carild as Head of Platform, and Paul Stuart as Chief Legal Officer.
Utopia now employs more than 170 people across offices located in Zug, London, Helsinki and Stockholm.
Based in Paris, Boudillet will be responsible for policy at the company, while leading the interface between Utopia Music and its ecosystem.
He reports to Utopia COO Roberto Neri, who leads the firm’s operations and is responsible for expanding its international office footprint.
Boudillet has over 15 years’ experience in digital entertainment.
Prior to joining Utopia, Boudillet founded advisory company TheLynk, where he lead its innovation in the music ecosystem by “enabling dialogue, experimentation and collaboration between Music organisations or institutions, artists and startups,” says Utopia.
Boudillet previously held roles at Warner Music, EMI Music and Ubisoft.
In April 2020, he co-founded a pan-european remote hackathon and accelerator called #NextStageChallenge, as a way to devise solutions for artists and the music sector during the pandemic.
Boudillet’s appointment comes shortly after Utopia’s acquisition of Nashville-based financial services company, Lyric Financial, which has advanced over $100 million worth of royalties to artists.
That news marked Utopia’s second company acquisition in the past two months, after buying Quincy Jones-backed emotional data enrichment company, Musimap in September.
